I received an error that said the .pdf is invalid or corrupted. What do I do?

We’re sorry to hear you ran into that issue -it’s definitely not normal.


To help us resolve this issue there are three main pieces of information we need. Please click Contact Us below and include the following information after following the below steps:

Step One:

  • If you are using Chrome:
    • Right-click anywhere on the page with the error, then select Inspect.
    • Then on the right, select Console and take a screenshot of any red lines of text/code you see.
  • If you are using Mozilla Firefox:
    • Right-click anywhere on the page with the error, then select Inspect Element.
    • Then on the bottom, select Console and take a screenshot of any red lines of text/code you see.
  • If you are using Safari:
    • Go to the menu, then select Safari.
    • Then, select Preferences.
    • On the next menu, check the box next to Show Develop menu in menu bar.
    • Then, go back to the Course Hero page and right-click anywhere on the page with the error. Then select Inspect Element.
    • Then, on the bottom, select Console and take a screenshot of any of the red lines of text/code you see.

Step Two:

  • If you are using Chrome:
    • Right-click on page and click Inspect
    • Click on Console 
    • Refresh your screen (Console has to be open when page is loaded or reloaded)
    • To the right of console is "Network;" click Network
    • Click All in submenu (if nothing changes, that's fine, that means you were already on that section by default)
    • Go to the filter and type loadpdf
    • Click the top result that says loadpdf
    • On the right, click Headers (default)
    • Copy or screenshot all the information under headers
  • If you are using Firefox:
    • Right-click on page and click Inspect Element
    • Click on Console
    • Refresh your screen (Console has to be open when page is loaded or reloaded)
    • On the far right of console is "Network," click Network
    • Click All in submenu (if nothing changes, that's fine, that means you were already on that section by default)
    • Go to the filter (on the far right) and type loadpdf
    • Click the top result that says loadpdf
    • On the right, click Headers (default)
    • Copy or screenshot all the information under headers

Step Three:

  • Copy the URLs of the documents you are trying to access and paste in the message to our Support Team, along with the screenshots from steps 1 and 2.
  • Additionally, if you have any browser extensions installed, please let us know.
